The Punjab Government would spend Rs 100 crore for the development of infrastructural facilities in Zirakpur, said Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal here today. He also announced , with all modern amenities Zirakpur to be developed into a model city in the next four months and hoped the move would also increase employment opportunities. The Deputy Chief Minister said the Punjab government was committed to providing good amenities, jobs and infrastructure in the rural areas also on a priority basis. He said the state government was taking all necessary steps, including development of infrastructural facilities, in the town to meet the needs of the people.He elaborated that Zirakpur is the gateway to Punjab. So, it merits the establishing of new parks, along with the widening and strengthening of road infrastructure. He said his motive behind the visit to the city was to get a first-hand assessment of the situation so as to explore ways and formulate strategies to change its look and carry out beautifica -tion projects in different localities, including Bhabhat, Baltana,Dhakauli and Saini Vihar. He disclosed that all colonies falling under the city would be developed to the maximum level and people would be provided with all amenities. No dearth of funds would be allowed to hamper the project of giving city a unique look.
