On Tuesday,To prepare a revised smart city plan, the Chandigarh
administration, led by UT Adviser Parimal Rai, held a meeting with
a French delegation .
The French delegates offered inputs to help create a strong and
effective smart city proposal, which is likely to be submitted to
the ministry of urban development before April 15. AIECOM, the
consulting agency which has been preparing the revised smart city
proposal, delivered a presentation.
All senior officer of the Chandigarh administration, including
finance secretary Sarvjit Singh, home secretary Anurag Agarwal,
SSP, Chandigarh Sukhchain Singh Gill, commissioner, Excise and
Taxation Jitender Yadav SSP (Traffic) Maneesh Chaudhary were
present on the occasion.
During the discussion, which aimed at improving people’s quality of
life, both positive and negative aspects of the city were considered.
The city’s active lifestyle, start-up culture and unique historical
background came up for discussion.
The urban development system was also discussed and the transport
department delivered a presentation in this regard. Besides, the
French delegation was briefed about the steps taken to develop a
modern transport system.
Adviser to the administrator highlighted the need to devise solutions
that would suit local conditions. He said the proposal should be such
the people embrace it wholeheartedly.
