Bridging Delhi-Dehradun: Expressway to slash travel time to 2.5 hours, boost tourism and trade

The upcoming Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is set to revolutionize road travel between the two cities, slashing the journey time from 6.5 hours to just 2.5 hours. With construction in its final stages, authorities anticipate completion in the next two to three months, paving the way for a grand inauguration soon.


Highlights of the Project The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, officially designated as NH-709B, stretches across 210 kilometers. This six-lane (expandable to 12-lane) expressway connects Delhi’s Akshardham area to Dehradun via Baghpat, Shamli, and Saharanpur. The route is also integrated with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, ensuring smoother traffic flow.

Eco-Friendly Design A section of the expressway runs through the Rajaji Tiger Reserve. To protect the environment, an elevated corridor is being built to allow free movement for wildlife, showcasing a balance between infrastructure and ecology.
