The Himachal Pradesh government is strengthening its focus on planned, transparent, and environment-friendly real estate development, with Urban Development and Housing Minister Rajesh Dharmani reaffirming the state’s commitment during a recent review meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) in Shimla.
Keeping in mind the fragile and unique geographical conditions of the hill state, the minister emphasised that the government is prioritising affordable housing while maintaining ecological balance. Dharmani underlined the critical role of RERA in protecting homebuyers’ interests and resolving property-related disputes. By enforcing transparency and mandating the disclosure of complete project information, RERA has significantly enhanced consumer confidence in Himachal Pradesh’s real estate sector.
During the meeting, officials informed that 269 real estate projects and 159 real estate agents are currently registered with RERA in the state. Out of 194 complaints received so far, 144 have been successfully resolved. The adoption of online complaint hearings via WebEx reflects the authority’s effective use of digital technology to improve efficiency and accessibility.
The minister further stated that developers are required to share project plans, layouts, and construction material details to ensure quality standards for buyers. The use of geo-tagged photos and videos will enable better monitoring of construction quality, while discussions on setting up a building safety council aim to further strengthen transparency and accountability in the sector.
