UT adviser Dharam Pal has asked for a progress report on land pooling policy. The administration has already decided to come out with a draft scheme on the Policy. The draft is being prepared by Bengaluru-based Indian Institute of Human Settlement (IIHS). The administration has already planned to make Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) as a nodal agency for the policy to utilise available vacant land in the city according to the Master Plan-2031. UT administrator Banwarilal Purohit had asked to utilise available vacant land in the city as per the Master Plan-2031, leading the UT to look to overcome the constraint of availability of land throughintroduction of a land pooling policy. The policy will help to utilise surplus land for development works planned as per the Master Plan. Most of the potential vacant land is locked in different pockets. Source: ET Realty
